Everything was just too easy. Odd was sort of flawless, except in physical terms, and the conflict was resolved without complications. It wasn't even a real conflict--just an obstacle that was surmounted without breaking a sweat. The book was very short, and I should've been able to read it in one sitting, but I didn't want to. There was nothing that compelled me to keep going, or to pick it up again when I put it back down.
Kids that really want stories about mythologies might enjoy it--I'd definitely put it in their hands. I'm going to stop reading so many reviews of books before I finally get around to reading the books themselves; it just builds and builds those expectations.
