This book took me EIGHT DAYS to get through. This is a middle grade novel! Which must mean that I found it boring and made up excuses not to pick it back up, which is exactly what happened. I wanted it to be charming and funny and smart, and it wasn't any of those things. There wasn't a single thing about the narrator that I liked, and her speech patterns are just grating and obnoxious instead of cute or whimsical, as I think they're meant to be. Not for me.
