I really, really liked Along for the Ride
, so I was really excited to go straight into another Sarah Dessen book, and...I'm disappointed. I thought this would be awesome, since they bothered to make a movie out of it, but. No. I mean, it wasn't bad. But I didn't love it, didn't love any of the characters. I cared, I suppose, about what was going to happen with Halley and Macon, and I know, I know that if I'd read this when I was 16--even 18, I would have been really, really emotionally involved in this.
Because a bad boy, a good girl, and that's pretty much every high-school good girl's fantasy, right? But I'm not 17 anymore, and I thought Macon was a jerk, and I thought Halley's mom pretty much had it right on. I am old, and this book didn't do it for me.
